Stability and Chaos

2010

In this chapter we study a larger class of dynamical systems that include but go beyond Hamiltonian systems. We are interested, on the one hand, in dissipative systems, i.e. systems that lose energy through frictional forces or into which energy is fed from exterior sources, and, on the other hand, in discrete, or discretized, systems such as those generated by studying flows by means of the Poincare mapping. The occurence of dissipation implies that the system is coupled to other, external systems, in a controllable manner. The strength of such couplings appears in the set of solutions, usually in the form of parameters. If these parameters are varied it may happen that the flow undergoes …

Chaos synchronization for a class of chaotic systems via H<inf>∞</inf> control technique

2013

In this paper, the robust synchronization control for a class of chaotic systems is studied. Based on linear matrix inequality techniques and Lyapunov stability theory, a novel H∝ robust synchronization controller is designed for the possible application in real engineering. Finally, some numerical simulations are included to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed techniques.

Adaptive synchronization of master-slave systems with mixed neutral and discrete time-delays and nonlinear perturbations

2011

This paper investigates the delay-dependent adaptive synchronization problem of the master and slave structure of linear systems with both constant neutral and time-varying discrete time-delays and nonlinear perturbations based on the Barbalat lemma and matching conditions. An adaption law which includes the master-slave parameters is obtained by using the Lyapunov functional method and inequality techniques to synchronize the master-slave systems without the knowledge of upper bounds of perturbation terms. Particularly, it is shown that the synchronization speed can be controlled by adjusting the update gain of the synchronization signal. A numerical example has been given to show the effe…

The chaotic Dadras–Momeni system: control and hyperchaotification

2015

In this paper a novel three-dimensional autonomous chaotic system, the so called Dadras-Momeni system, is considered and two different control techniques are employed to realize chaos control and chaos synchronization. Firstly, the optimal control of the chaotic system is discussed and an open loop feedback controller is proposed to stabilize the system states to one of the system equilibria, minimizing the cost function by virtue of the Pontryagin’s minimum principle. Then, an adaptive control law and an update rule for uncertain parameters, based on Lyapunov stability theory, are designed both to drive the system trajectories to an equilibrium or to realize a complete synchronization of t…

Coupling Systems for a New Type of Phase Synchronization

2016

Using the usual phase in plane, we propose a general method to design coupling between systems that will exhibit phase synchronization. Numerical results are shown for Lorenz systems. Phase synchronization and antiphase synchronization are equally probable depending on initial conditions. A new network with Lorenz phase synchronized system is obtained.

Impulsive control on the synchronization for a class of chaotic Systems

2014

In this paper, the impulsive control problem on the synchronization for a class of chaotic systems is discussed. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, the new impulsive synchronization strategy is presented to realize the chaos synchronization and possesses the wider scope of application. Finally the numerical simulation examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our theoretical results.
